gap Personnel Exeter are recruiting for a skilled Engineering Machinist for our client, and expanding Devon Engineering company. The successful candidate will be a time served CNC & Manual machinist with extensive previous experience working in a busy engineering workshop environment. Role overview: • Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders. • Perform quality checks including use of measuring equipment on machined parts to ensure compliance with drawing/specification. • Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work. • To follow detailed work instructions and technical drawings relating to the machining of component parts and large assemblies. • To ensure the scope and timing of assigned tasks are understood, completed as per requirements and in accordance with relevant working procedures. • To ensure all relevant documentation is completed correctly and in a timely manner. • Maintain all tools and equipment in a clean and usable state; return tools and equipment to appropriate storage area(s) when not being used. Report defects or damage to the workshop manager. • To work in accordance with current quality procedures and advise any errors or variances to the workshop manager. • Assist in the maintenance of clean, tidy and safe working areas including canteen area, toilets/washing facilities to reduce the risk of skin disease or infections. • To maintain an awareness and observation of Fire, Security, and Health and Safety Regulations. • To wear correct PPE as directed by the workshop manager. • To work in other departments and locations as and when required • To be prepared to work outside normal working hours, including weekends sometimes at short notice. • To carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job. Candidate overview: • Strong engineering back ground • Ability to read and interpret drawings • Good communication skills • Good teamwork • Excellent literacy & numeracy skills • Time served engineering apprenticeship • Knowledge in set up times and jigging • Experience with Fanuc/ Heidenhain or XYZ CNC control systems Salary: £25,000 pa
