About the Role

 

Main Purpose:

To lead the manufacturing, production and engineering functions to deliver the business requirements.  

 

Main duties:

Drive the overall operational strategy, including machine investment strategy

Drive excellence through the production environment through implementation of lean manufacturing processes and controls

Own the overall performance of the shop floor and measure against agreed KPI’s on quality, productivity etc.

Design and implement a training and development plan across the shop floor, with a focus on multi-skilling

Design and implement solutions to meet the operational needs of the business, e.g. the potential future need to set up multi-site operations to deliver the modular arm of the business

Own the operations annual budget and headcount 

Actively contribute to and influence the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process 

Work with supply chain, product and commercial departments to ensure alignment across the business

Oversee the Production Manager and day-to-day operations
 

Key Responsibilities:

Engagement and culture of the shop floor

Operational KPIs

Operations budget/forecast and headcount

Machine investment strategy

Health & Safety
 
 

What we are looking for

 

The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following:

Substantial experience of leading operations within a 2/3 stage manufacturing environment (high volume)

Knowledge and experience of implementing lean manufacturing techniques (green or black belt in Six Sigma preferred) 

Experience of working with ERP/MRP systems

Experience of leading and managing teams

Experience of running multi-site operations (not essential)

NEBOSH qualified or equivalent
